The one that started it all
A lunch built for a coal town
In 1927, Giuseppe “Joseph” Argiro ran the Country Club Bakery in Fairmont. He baked pepperoni into soft bread so the coal miners who bought his loaves had a lunch that kept underground all shift, no fork needed.
A hundred years later, you’ll find pepperoni rolls at gas stations and church halls all over West Virginia. They still taste best here, warm from the oven. Come have one where it started.

A heritage you can taste
The families who came here for the coal stayed for good, and they brought their kitchens with them. You can taste it every December at the Feast of the Seven Fishes, when downtown Fairmont turns into one long table.
