I’ve been in Marion County for a couple days, and here are some facts I learned…

The county is named after General Francis “Swamp Fox” Marion.
There’s so much history here!
It’s just two hours north of the state capital, Charleston and an hour and a half south of Pittsburgh.
All 312 miles of Marion have so much to see!
Its county seat, Fairmont, is called the “Friendly City.” The county has a population of 56,000 (mostly) friendly people!
Marion County has 11 municipalities.
Marion County is close to Taylor, Harrison, Monongalia and Preston Counties — all the more adventuring!
Its Visitor Center is an accredited CVB, which stands for Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Before you come

Just so you know, we observe the following holidays: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veteran’s Day, Thanksgiving, Day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and the week between Christmas and New Year’s. The Visitor Center will also be closed to the public on Election Day.

Hours of operation are Monday through Thursday, 8:30 am until 4:30 pm, and Friday, 8:30 am until 3:30 pm.
